Artist Profile

Performance is the key element of Philippe’s paintings. The physicality of the artist in the process of creation has a direct link to the intensity of the images produced. Philippe works with the canvas flat on the floor. Working from above allows him to have complete control over the industrial materials he uses.


Abstract forms dance across the crisp white canvas. There are no specific reference points for each individual painting, however, Aird’s recent fascination with the bio-photography of Lennart Nilsson has certainly influenced his work. His inspiration is drawn not only from the beauty of the body within, but also from the excitement of working with innovative materials.
