In recent years I have produced a number of smaller figurative studies depicting episodes of human interaction within a perceived social setting. In Terry and June my characters are embraced in an intimate and lighthearted exchange. The painting aims to evoke the moments we share in life that draw us together, a moment of warmth, painted with affection but without sympathy as the characters portray a edginess with a nod to social realism. I see this as one of my 'Dickensian' paintings.
